Southwest Medical Associates healthy and growing

LAS VEGAS – Southwest Medical Associates will have added 30 physicians, 200 employees in support staff positions and 20 midlevel provider positions including physician assistants, nurse practitioners and such, in addition to five locations to its growing group by the end of 2014.

Southwest Medical Associates growth has resulted in the group employing 280 multispecialty physicians and a support staff of 1,300 to cover 21 Valley locations which serve 320,000 patients. Southwest Medical has added around 55,000 new Medicaid patients just this year.

Southwest Medical is adding two new locations in December. One will be located in Summerlin specializing in adult medicine, and one is a walk-in urgent care clinic to be located at its Civic Center Drive location.

The group has also added a NowClinic, where home-bound or rural patients can have a face-to-face visit or consultation with a physician via an internet connection, much like visiting over Skype. The group also offers other innovative health solutions, like its group-care option. A small group of patients with similar symptoms or conditions can share a medical appointment and benefit from shared information and assistance through confidential question and answer sessions.

Southwest Medical’s innovative approach was recognized for quality of care by The National Committee for Quality Assurance through its Patient-Centered Medical Home Recognition Program.
